No item: 5 turns. With Heat Rock (sun), Damp Rock (rain), Smooth Rock (sand), Icy Rock (snow): 8 turns. Automatic weathers (Drought/Drizzle/Sand Stream/Snow Warning) cannot be extended with rocks.
When both teams bring a setter, the last one to enter wins. Example: Charizard-Y (Drought) enters, then Pelipper (Drizzle) enters after → rain active. That's why Choice Scarf Pelipper is feared: attacks first AND overwrites sun.
